Biography
Tomás Gutiérrez grew up in Austin, Texas, “The Live Music Capital of the World,” where he was exposed to a wide variety of musical genres including classic rock, popular, and jazz idioms. At the age of 13 he began to study guitar. He has participated in jazz bands, chamber music festivals, and outreach concerts. In 2004, while still in high school, he began intensive classical guitar study and with Adam Holzman at UT. He has participated in masterclasses with professional guitar players such as Marcin Dylla, Eliot Fisk, Christian Haimel, Jérémy Jouve, Łukasz Kuropaczewski, Ana Vidovic, Philippe Villa, and Piotr Zaleski. In 2010, he completed his Bachelor of Music degree with Julian Gray in Guitar Performance at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University. As of 2012, Mr. Gutiérrez is now enrolled in the Game Design Certificate program held at Austin Community College.
